Hammersmith Interview Skills Course - F2 preparation for ST1, MMC, GPSTP, GPVTS, Consultant interviews

Foundation Doctors and ST interviews

Are you an F2? Or even a forward thinking F1 doctor?

You need to start preparing now for your entry into ST1

Preparing for ST interviews

Step 1. Optimise your CV. Despite having relatively limited clinical and other experience, it is now critical that you start to work on your CV. The application forms are CV-based, so that you can spend time now getting your CV ready for this, and perhaps improving your CV where gaps exist. We have produced a Definitive Guide to ST Application Forms which will guide you through how to apply successfully, with 60 A4 pages of detailed, inside advice from senior doctors to ramp up your Application Form. Get it here

Step 2. Attend the Hammersmith Interview Course to get a genuine idea of what is going to be expected of you at the ST interviews and the knowledge and skills you require to interview competitively. Preparation is key - consider it like an exam without a passmark! Learn how to answer questions about difficult colleagues, conflict, risk management, personal qualities, teamworking, and much more, learning from Consultants who ask the questions and know what answers are required on the scoring sheets

Don't leave your career progression to chance. Lots of your colleagues have already attended this course to ensure they get the Deanery and rotation of choice by scoring as highly as possible in the interviews

We have successfully trained numerous F1 and F2 doctors preparing for ST entry, and the feedback from them has been highly appreciative and positive. The most common response is that, since F2 doctors have never been interviewed, the prospect of a competitive medical interview is a daunting one. One F1 doctor told us she "wished that she had been taught this at medical school". Another doctor who was re-applying for ST1 this year wished he'd come on the Hammersmith course last year as the questions he had been asked were all covered on the course!

You will know the person specification, as these have been published, but how to turn these details into coherent, relevant interview answers is what we specialise in.

We know why and how application forms look for certain attributes (you'll have to come on the course to find out which!) and how you should answer these sections carefully, using the knowledge gained on the course

We have shortlisted and interviewed for many years, and know exactly how the ST interviews are planned, conducted and scored. We can prepare you thoroughly for your ST structured interviews. Click here to book now
